Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets will open their 68th training camp Monday, Sept. 30, at 12:30pm with a press luncheon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.  All Fort Wayne area media are invited.

Ben Boudreau will be opening his first pro season as a head coach and will introduce all players on the Fort Wayne preseason roster in attendance.  All attending media will have the opportunity to meet Komet management, coaches and players.

Training camp begins with on-ice sessions starting Monday afternoon at 3:00 on Sweetwater ice at the Coliseum. There are two exhibition games slated against the Wheeling Nailers.  The Komets visit Wheeling Friday, Oct. 4 for a 7:05pm start.  The Komets will complete the preseason home-and-home series at home on Coliseum ice Saturday, Oct. 5 against the Nailers at 7:35pm.

The Komets will open the 2019-20 regular season ECHL schedule at home on Saturday, Oct. 12 against arch rival Kalamazoo at 7:35pm.  See Komets schedule

The complete training camp schedule is listed below.  During the first week of camp, two camp on-ice practices and two scrimmages will be open to the public, as noted on the schedule below.  For the public sessions, fans will be allowed to watch from the south end of the arena behind the south netting only and may enter through the Coliseum rotunda area.  Please note that due to other Coliseum events taking place, a parking fee will charged for some sessions.

2019 Komets Training Camp ScheduleMonday, Sept. 30-- 12:30pm Press luncheon, Coliseum;  3pm-4pm, Practice, ColiseumTuesday, Oct. 1-- 2:30pm-4pm, Practice, Coliseum (Open to the public)Wednesday, Oct. 2-- 10:15am-10:45am, Practice, Coliseum;  11am-12noon, Scrimmage, Coliseum (Open to the public)Thursday, Oct. 3-- 10:15am-10:45am, Practice, Coliseum;  11am-12noon, Scrimmage, Coliseum (Open to the public)Friday, Oct. 4-- Komets travel to Wheeling for exhibition game at 7:35pm.Saturday, Oct. 5-- 10am-11am, Practice, Coliseum;  Exhibition home game vs Wheeling at 7:35pm.Monday, Oct. 7-- 10:15am-12noon, Practice at the IcehouseTuesday, Oct. 8-- 10:15am-12noon, Practice, ColiseumWednesday, Oct. 9-- 10:15am-12noon, Practice, ColiseumThursday, Oct. 10-- 10:15am-12noon, Practice, ColiseumFriday, Oct. 11-- 10:15am-12noon, Practice, ColiseumSaturday, Oct. 12-- 10am-11am, Practice, Coliseum;  Season opener vs Kalamazoo at 7:35pm at the ColiseumThree rookies added to preseason roster-- The Komets announced Tuesday that rookies Matt Brassard, Connor Sanvido and Marc-Olivier Duquette have been added to the preseason roster.Brassard (bruh-SARD), 21, finished four years of juniors play in the OHL with Barrie, Oshawa and Niagara last year.  During the year the defenseman split the season with Oshawa and Niagara scoring season career highs of 45 assists and 56 points in 65 games.  Brassard was selected by Vancouver in round 7 of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.Sanvido (san-VEE-doe), 26, skated five years in the WHL from 2009-2014.  The forward scored junior career highs of 16 goals, 24 assists and 40 points in 68 games during a shared 2013-14 season with Swift Current and Saskatoon.  Last year Sanvido completed a five-year collegiate career posting four goals and nine points in 24 CWUAA games wit the University of Lethbridge.Duquette (do-KETT), 22, completed a five-year juniors stint last season in the QMJHL.  The defenseman scored a career high seven goals and added 17 assists for 24 points in 50 games with Drummondville.

The preseason camp roster of 28 players includes 15 forwards, 10 defensemen and three goaltenders.  More information on the 2019-20 team will be available at the press luncheon Monday.

New assistant equipment manager-- The Komets also announced that Skylar Garver has been added to the locker room staff as the new assistant equipment manager.  Garver is former head equipment manager with the local Indiana Tech program and is currently a student at Purdue Fort Wayne University.

Komets Season Ticket Holder Kick-Off Event Tuesday, Oct. 1-- The Komets will hold their annual Season Ticket Holder Kick-Off Event Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 5:30pm to 8pm at Classic Cafe, 4832 Hillegas Road in Fort Wayne. Season ticket holders can pick up their tickets and complimentary bobble head of Komet legend Len Thornson.  There will be a 2018-19 game-worn jersey sale, free food, photo opportunities with Icy, and a chance to meet the team.

Season tickets continue on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne.  Single game tickets for all 36 home games and for the exhibition game scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office.
