Wayne, IN 4/20/08 --- The Komets turned back the visiting Muskegon
Fury Sunday night in Fort Wayne 7-3 to take a 2-games-to-1 first-round IHL
series lead.
Fort Wayne came out blasting with 23 shots in the first period to the Fury's
five and a 2-1 lead on goals by Luciano Aquino and P.C. Drouin. The
Komets directed another 18 shots to Muskegon's three in the second frame and
scored three times to set up a 5-1 lead going into the third period.
Fort Wayne got second period tallies from Guy Dupuis, Konstantin Shafranov
and Justin Hodgman.
The Komets added goals by Mathieu Curadeau and David Hukalo in the third
stanza while Muskegon countered with a pair by Dan Riedel and Philippe
Plante. The Komets added 13 shots in the third period for a total of
54shots in the match to the Fury's 22.
Komet goaltender Kevin Reiter earned his second playoff victory of the
series making 19 saves. The Fury's Isaac Reichmuth suffered the loss
making 36 saves on 41 shots in two periods of play. Clayton Pool
entered the Muskegon net at the start of the third period and made 11 saves
on 13 shots in relief.
17 power plays were dished out in the game by referee Brett Klosowski.
Fort Wayne registered three goals with the man advantage in eight attempts
while Muskegon posted two power play goals in nine chances.
The first-round series switches to Muskegon's L.C. Walker Arena Wednesday night
with a 7:30pm faceoff. Game 5 of the series will be back in Fort Wayne
Friday at 8pm.
