Komets dismiss Generals 5-3, home win streak reaches 21

Wayne, IN 3/19/08 --- The Fort Wayne Komets won their franchise record
21st consecutive home game Wednesday night at the Memorial Coliseum 5-3 over
Flint, moving within one win of tying the IHL record of 22 straight home
wins set by the Muskegon Mohawks during the 1965-66 season.
The Komets also extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games (12-0-1-1) and
are unbeaten at home this season by the Generals (6-0-0).
The Komets dismissed the Generals
on goals by David Hukalo, Luciano Aquino (2), Brandon Warner and Mitch
Woods. Aquino pushed his point-scoring streak to 10 games (8 goals, 8
assists). Komet defenseman Guy Dupuis dished a pair of assists for a
two-point night. Mike Kinnie scored a pair for the Generals while
Michel Beausoleil added a tally.
Komet goaltender Kevin Reiter won
his sixth straight game on 17 saves for an IHL high 27 wins. Flint's
Eric Marvin suffered his 18th loss of the season making 29 saves on 33
shots.
The Komets improved to 46-12-5-2 for 99 points to maintain a 28-point margin
over second-place Port Huron. Flint fell to 27-23-3-9 and are winless
in their last four outings.
The Komets will travel to Port Huron Friday for a 7:30pm faceoff before
returning home to host the Generals again Saturday night at 7:30.
