KOMETS TO
SKATE LIVE ON XFINITY CHANNEL 81
Five LIVE Game Broadcasts scheduled for 60th
Anniversary Season
Fort Wayne, IN --
The
Fort Wayne Komets in conjunction with Xfinity and in preparation for their 60th
Anniversary Season are proud to announce a schedule
of five LIVE game broadcasts during the 2011-12
Season. The Komet Home Games will air LIVE on
Xfinity Channel 81 and will feature Kent Hormann
handling the play-by-play call. Hormann will
be assisted on the broadcasts with Fort Wayne native
Bob Gnau who tended goal at the junior hockey level
in Fort Wayne and was also a successful high school
coach in the area. All production will
originate from the Coliseum combining both Xfinity
production cameras and facilities AND, for the first
time ever, live broadcast of the Coliseum’s internal
network of cameras and production facilities.
The games that are scheduled for LIVE BROADCAST
have been handpicked by Xfinity and the Komets
specifically to highlight traditional special events
that occur annually during each season. The
broadcasts will kick-off with the Komets’ 60th home
opener against the Evansville Icemen on Saturday,
October 22nd at 7:30pm and culminate at the last
2011-12 regular season home game against the Dayton
Gems on Sunday, March 25th at 5:00pm, which also
features the annual Komet Team Awards immediately
following the game, which will also be televised for
the first time in team history.
In addition to opening night and the regular season
finale, Xfinity Channel 81 will also feature LIVE
BROADCASTS on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December
31st at 7:30 against Bloomington and Friday,
February 10th at 8:00pm as the Komets host the Quad
City Mallards for the annual “Comcast Report Card
Night” game. A fifth Komet hockey telecast
will be announced at a later date and may include a
Komet tilt from the 2012 CHL playoffs in April.
“The Komets are thrilled to be able to include this
schedule of LIVE BROADCASTS to the Fort Wayne Area
as part of our 60th Anniversary Celebration," Komet
vice president and co-owner Scott A. Sproat said.
“Comcast has always been one of the Komets’ premier
corporate partners and we’re looking forward to
giving fans across the Xfinity viewing area a LIVE
LOOK in to what goes on during some of the Komets'
biggest traditional games.
“This will be the first time ever that the viewers
at home have a chance to see the game from all
angles combining the Comcast traditional sports
production sensibilities with the enhancement of the
video board elements that make Komet Hockey so much
fun to watch LIVE IN PERSON at the Coliseum. It should give lots of fans a
chance to sample Komet Hockey in a whole new way and
the fans in the arena on these big nights a chance
to BE ON TV...LIVE.”
