Kevin Reiter
returns to Komet nets
Netminder agrees to second Fort Wayne stint
Fort
Wayne, IN | Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010 --- The Komets
announced Tuesday that goaltender Kevin Reiter has agreed to terms
and has been added to the 2010-11 preseason roster.
Reiter, 29, will be returning to the Komets for his second stint
after collecting the 2008 Huber Trophy and Turner Cup Championship with the Komets.
Reiter registered a career high 32 wins in the Fort Wayne nets
during 2007-08 while posting a 2.34 goals-against-average and .910
save percentage before sharing time in the playoffs with teammate
Nick Boucher.
"With the signing of Kevin Reiter to go along with Nick Boucher, we
feel we have the type of goaltending to compete for a championship,"
Komets general manager David Franke said. "Kevin will also be
attending the Worcester Sharks AHL training camp in Worcester,
Massachusetts."
During 2007-08 Reiter set a new Fort Wayne franchise record three
consecutive shutouts and tied the Komets' goaltender record with
eight regular season shutouts. The netminder was named the IHL
Goaltender of the Year and and named a 2007-08 IHL First Team
All-Star.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has spent the last two seasons
in the Elite International Hockey League (EIHL) in the United
Kingdom. Reiter appeared in 43 games with Basingstoke during
2008-09 and split time with Sheffield and Newcastle last year.
The Komets also announced Tuesday that defenseman Steven Oleksy has
decided not to join the Komets for the upcoming campaign and has
been placed on waivers.
The
Fort Wayne
2010-11 preseason roster sits at 23 players including 12 forwards,
nine
