Komets Reach

Collect five of six points for the week
Mavericks visit Wednesday,
PrairieThunder return Saturday
Fort
Wayne, IN | Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 -- The Komets
continued to roll in week 14 of 2010-11 taking five of six points
and extending their unbeaten (in regulation) streak to five games.
The Komets improved to 12-16-5 after 33 games. Fort Wayne has
collected points in 11 of the last dozen games (7-1-4) and are on a
.750 tear since Dec. 22 when 23 points separated them from first
place in the CHL's Turner Conference. Since then, the Komets
have gained 10 points in the race to the top of the Turner
Conference and are 13 points out of first place with 33 games and 10
weeks remaining.
ABOUT LAST WEEK
Friday, Jan. 14, Evansville 4, at Fort Wayne 3, shootout.....it
was Fort Wayne's first home shootout loss in over a year dating back
to Dec. 4, 2009 against Quad City when the Komets dropped a 3-2
shootout on Coliseum ice. The Komets are now even against
Evansville after five meetings at 2-2-1 with six meetings remaining.
Saturday, Jan. 15, Fort Wayne 5, at Bloomington 3.....the
Komets won their third straight road game and it was their first win
against Bloomington this season in three meetings (1-2-0). It
was the Komets' fourth straight game of not allowing a power play
goal. Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher extends his unbeaten
streak to nine straight decisions (5-0-4). Rookie left wing
Artem Podshendyalov scored his first pro goals and first pro
multi-point game netting two goals in 53 seconds. Center Danny
Lapointe scored his first Fort Wayne point (assist) in his second
game. Defenseman Guy Dupuis reaches a Fort Wayne franchise
record 1000 games in the Komet uniform since 1991.
Sunday, Jan. 16, at Fort Wayne 6, Missouri 1.....third game
in three nights and the Komets snap a four-game home winless streak.
The Komets extend their unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2).
The 6-1 win is the largest margin of victory for the Komets this
season. Guy Dupuis gets an assist for a new Fort Wayne record
of 436 asists for a career (regular season and playoffs combined)
Komet defenseman, breaking Lionel Repka's record of 435 set in 1969.
Center Danny Lapointe scored his first Fort Wayne goal and three
players establish three-game point-scoring streaks: Guy Dupuis
(1 goal, 2 assists), center Colin Chaulk (1 goal, 5 assists, also a
three-game assist streak and three-game 2-point scoring streak),
left winger P.C. Drouin (2 goals, 2 assists).
DUPUIS' FORT WAYNE RECORDS AT A GLANCE
Guy
Dupuis set two more Fort Wayne historical milestones last week.
He appeared in his 1000th Fort Wayne career game (each game he plays
sets a new record for Fort Wayne career games by a player) Saturday
at
Bloomington and scored an assist Sunday to set a new record of
assists
by a Fort Wayne career defenseman of 436, breaking Lionel Repka's
record of 435 set 41 years ago in 1969. Dupuis owns Fort Wayne
franchise records of goals, assists and points by a Komet defenseman
in regular season play and in regular season and postseason play
combined.
