Fort Wayne, IN — The Komets' tradition of home
Thanksgiving games continues Thursday when the Flint Generals
pay a holiday visit to Fort Wayne at 7:30pm.
The Komets are hoping to end a
four-game winless skid this Thursday night after dropping both
games last week. The Komets are 7-5-1-0 after 13 games for
15 points and fourth place in the IHL. The Komets are one
point behind third-place Kalamazoo and trail first-place
Muskegon by four points going into week seven of 2008-09.
Thursday night's tilt is the 47th consecutive Komet home
Thanksgiving game. The Komets are 28-14-2-2 on
Thanksgiving at home. The Generals have visited Fort Wayne
four times for Turkey Day in the past with the last holiday
visit ending in a Flint 6-5 win Nov. 23, 2000. Thursday
night's game will be the third of 16 meetings with Flint this
season. The Komets have won both previous meetings.
The fifth-place Generals (5-10-1-1)have lost their last two
outings and are coming off a 4-1 home loss to Port Huron last
Saturday night.
Friday the Komets will skate at Port Huron at 7:30pm. The second-place
Icehawks suffered a 6-1 setback at Kalamazoo Sunday afternoon and are 7-2-0-0 in
their last nine times out. The Hawks evened the series against the Komets
at 1-1-0-0 with a 1-0 win Friday night in Fort Wayne.
Saturday the Komets return home to host Muskegon (9-3-1-0) at 7:30pm. It's
the third meeting of the season and the Komets are looking to get their first
win from the Lumberjacks. The 'jacks have won their last two games played
after blasting Bloomington Saturday night 9-5 in Muskegon.
SHARE THE WARMTH....Coats for Kids starts Thanksgiving
night.....The Komets in conjunction with Kroger and Scott's are asking
fans to bring gently used or new kid's coats in sizes six through 14 as well as
new mittens, hats and scarves as part of the Coats for Kids Drive this year.
The three-game drive will also continue Saturday, Nov. 29 when the Komets host
Muskegon at 7:30pm and Saturday, Dec. 6 when the Komets host Bloomington at
7:30pm. In addition to the collection, Kroger and Scott's will offer any
fan bringing an item 10 free chuck-a-pucks that can be used at the games Nov. 29
or Dec. 6.
