Fort Wayne, IN — The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Wednesday that Komet netminder Nick Boucher has been named the 2008-09 Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Year.  The award is selected by IHL head coaches, general managers and members of the media.

Boucher, 28, leads IHL goalies for the second year in a row with a career-high 31 wins, 2.43 goals-against average, .919 save percentage and three shutouts in 52 appearances and 3,086 minutes of play.  The sixth-year goaltender enters the final week of 2008-09 riding a 14-game unbeaten streak (13-0-0-1) and nine-game winning streak. 

Boucher has been honored with the IHL Goaltender of the Week award five times this year including the last three straight weeks.  He also was named the IHL's Goaltender of the Month for March.

Boucher led the Komets to the 2008 Turner Cup Championship with an IHL best 2.09 goals-against average and has backstopped Fort Wayne to the top of the current IHL standings with sights set on a second consecutive Huber Trophy.

Boucher becomes the third consecutive Fort Wayne goaltender to receive the yearly honor.  Kevin St. Pierre was named UHL Best Goaltender for 2006-07 and Kevin Reiter was honored as IHL Goaltender of the Year last year.
