Fort Wayne, IN — The Komets announced Thursday that they have met the IHL's trade deadline with a deal that sends winger Dominic Osman and defenseman Dylan Row to Kalamazoo for veteran defenseman Rod Aldoff.

Aldoff, 38, has appeared in 57 games this season as an alternate captain with the Wings leading Kalamazoo defensemen with 30 points.  Aldoff has proven to be a benefit to the power play scoring four of his seven goals and 12 of his 23 assists this year with the man advantage.

The 14-year pro skated his 700th career game against the Komets in Kalamazoo near the start of the season Oct. 25.  Aldoff netted his first career hat trick Dec. 20 against Bloomington in a 6-3 Kalamazoo win.  The veteran defenseman was named the IHL's Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 21.

Aldoff began his career in 1995 with Tallahassee of the ECHL scoring a career high 13 goals, 44 assists and 57 points.  During his career he has also skated IHL stints with Utah, Long Beach and Bloomington and has experience at the elite level of play in Europe.

Aldoff will wear number 25 and is expected to see his first action as a Komet Friday night when Fort Wayne visits Port Huron for a 7:30pm faceoff at McMorran Arena.

Osman, 27, appeared in 37 games with the Komets scoring 18 goals and 30 points while posting a plus-four.  The right winger is in his second pro year and was named the IHL Player of the Week the first week of the season.  He recorded two hat tricks while with the Komets, both in games at Port Huron.

Row, 25, started the year with New Mexico of the CHL before signing with Huntsville of the SPHL.  The defenseman was added to the Komet roster last week and appeared in all three Komet games over the past weekend.

Looking ahead the Komets will begin a tear of 11 games in 17 nights for the remainder of March.  This weekend the Komets will skate three games in three nights starting at Port Huron Friday at 7:30pm.  The league-leading Icehawks are coming off a 4-2 home loss to Kalamazoo last Sunday, ending their unbeaten streak at 12 games.  The Komets lead the season series 6-5-0 and are 5-1-0 at McMorran Arena.  It's the first meeting since the Komets chilled the Icehawks 4-0 Jan. 31 on Fort Wayne ice.  Port Huron is also idle this week until they host the Komets Friday.

Saturday the Komets return home to host the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm.  After a 3-4 shootout victory at Bloomington Wednesday night, the fourth-place Wings trail the Komets by two points.  Saturday will be Kalamazoo's last visit to Fort Wayne where the Komets are 2-2-1-2 against the Wings this season.  Kalamazoo hosts Bloomington Friday before visiting Fort Wayne Saturday.

Sunday the Komets are back on the road to Bloomington for a 5:05pm faceoff (Fort Wayne time).  It's the first of six meetings remaining until the end of the season.  The Komets are 4-2-0-2 against the PrairieThunder in eight meetings so far.  Sunday's game will be the fifth of seven at Bloomington where the Komets are 2-1-0-1 this season.

All three games this weekend will air on WOWO Radio AM 1190 and will be webcast free online at www.komets.com Comcast KometCast.
