Komet's Curadeau snags Rookie of the Week

Fort Wayne, IN --- The IHL announced Monday that Komet center Mathieu Curadeau was named the Aquafina Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007. It was the first weekly award of his career.

Curadeau (KERR-uh-doe), 22, netted 5 goals and added an assist for 6 points in 3 games played and posted a plus/minus rating of +4. The Montreal, Quebec native scored the Komet's second goal of a 4-3 in Port Huron Friday night and added an assist on the game winner.

The center registered his first pro hat trick Saturday night in the Komet's 5-4 overtime home loss to Muskegon. Curadeau scored 3 unanswered goals during a Komet comeback after a 4-0 deficit and helped carry the Komets into the extra frame.

Curadeau scored his fourth first-goal of the season against the visiting Bloomington PrairieThunder Sunday as the Komets clipped the Thunder 3-2 and extended Fort Wayne's unbeaten streak to 5 games. Curadeau's goal extends his goal-scoring streak to an IHL current high of 4 games (6 goals). He also is riding a 4-game point streak of 7 points (6 goals, 1 assist).

Curadeau leads IHL rookies and the Komets with 14 goals and a +13. He has dished 5 assists for 19 points. The skater also has a team best +13 after appearing in all 22 games to date.
