Komets week in review
Komets reclaim first place, take back-to-back road wins
Fury here Saturday, PrairieThunder visit Sunday

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets reclaimed first place in the IHL taking 2 out of 3 games played for the week. After going winless in back-to-back home games a week earlier and falling to second place, the Komets rebounded with back-to-back road wins Saturday and Sunday. The Komets returned to first place with an 11-5-2-1 record and 25 points after 8 weeks of the 2007-08 campaign.          -IHL Standings-

The 3-game road weekend tour started with a 3-1 loss at Muskegon Friday. P.C. Drouin (LW) scored the lone Komet goal. Kevin Reiter suffered his fourth loss of the season in the Fort Wayne net allowing 3 goals on 26 shots and successfully stopped all 11 Muskegon power plays faced.

Saturday the Komets traveled to Kalamazoo and clipped the Wings 3-1 on goals by Maksim Shirokov (D), Luciano Aquino (RW) and Drouin. Aquino added 2 assists for a 3-point evening. Shirokov's goal was his first as a pro in North America. Colin Chaulk (C) passed an assist on Drouin's tally in his 300th career Fort Wayne game. Komet goalie Nick Boucher stopped 41 of 42 shots for his fourth win of the season.

Sunday the Komets doubled up the IceHawks in Port Huron 4-2. Matt Reynolds (LW), Mitch Woods (RW), Guy Dupuis (D) and Mathieu Curadeau (C) each tallied Komet goals. Aquino dished 2 assists for the second consecutive game. Reiter earned his seventh win of the season for the Komets making 26 saves.

Komets return to Port Huron Friday, home for double-header Saturday and Sunday
The Komets will skate 3 games in 3 nights again this weekend starting with a return visit to Port Huron Friday at 7:30pm. The Komets are 3-2-1-0 in 6 meetings this season after taking a 4-2 win out of Port Huron Sunday.

Saturday the Komets return home to host Muskegon at 7:30pm. The Komets are now 1-1-0-1 vs. the Fury after dropping last Friday's meeting at Muskegon 3-1. Muskegon is riding a 4-game winning streak going into this week's action. The Fury skate at Bloomington Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.

Sunday the Komets host Bloomington at 5pm. It's the fifth meeting of the season with the series tied at 2-2-0-0. Bloomington plays host to Kalamazoo Wednesday and Flint Friday. The Thunder rolls into Port Huron Saturday before visiting Fort Wayne Sunday. The PrairieThunder are winless in their last two games played (0-1-1-0).

Chaulk streak.....Colin Chaulk (C) has points in 5 straight games (1 goal, 4 assists) and has a 4-game assist streak (4 assists).

Dupuis is back.....Guy Dupuis (D) successfully returned from a 7-game I.R. leave of absence to record points in each of the 3 games played over the weekend for a 3-game point streak (1 goal, 2 assists).

Special K's: The Komet's were successful on 24 of 25 penalty kills (96.0%) in 3 games played last week and lead the IHL with an 86.7% penalty kill rating (104/120). The stingy Komet defense also has allowed a league-lowest 47 goals for an IHL best goals-against average of 2.47 per game. In addition, the Komet "D" has allowed a league-lowest average of 29.4 shots on goal per game.

Shooting Komets: The Komets have directed an IHL-high average of 35.3 shots on goal per game.
