Komets week in review
Komets survive shootouts, move into first place
Home for double-header this weekend
IceHawks visit Friday, PrairieThunder roll in Saturday

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets completed week 6 of the 2007-08 IHL campaign earning 4 points in 3 games played and grabbing sole possession of first place. The Komets improved to 9-3-1-1 for 20 points and became the first team to take over first place from Flint since Nov. 4.   -IHL Standings-

The Komets started the week with a 7-game unbeaten streak and 4-game win streak and had it snapped with a 5-4 setback against Port Huron Thanksgiving night in Fort Wayne. It was the first home loss for the Komets this season and first loss in 5 Thanksgiving home games.

Friday night the Komets snapped Flint's 3-game win streak with a 3-2 shootout victory at Flint and extended the Komet's road win streak to 3 games and a 5-game road unbeaten streak.

Saturday the Komets returned home to clip the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 4-3 in another shootout for the third straight win over Kalamazoo (3-0-1-0) this season. Komet goaltender Nick Boucher made 20 saves in regulation and stopped both Kalamazoo shootout attempts to earned his third win of the season and is unbeaten in regulation in 4 starts.

Komets host double-header weekend starting Friday
The Komets will host the Port Huron IceHawks Friday night at 8:00 in the first of back-to-back Komet home games this weekend. The IceHawks are riding a 3-game win streak and have pulled to within 2 points of the first-place Komets. The Komets are 2-2-0-0 vs Port Huron after dropping the last meeting Thanksgiving night in Fort Wayne 5-4.

Saturday the Komets will faceoff against the visiting Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:30pm in the fourth of 16 meetings this season and the second of 8 at Fort Wayne. The Komets are 2-1-0-0 vs. Bloomington and have won the last 2 meetings. The PrairieThunder skate at Muskegon Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.

Special K's: The Komet's special teams scored 5 power play goals on 19 chances (26.3%) for the week and were successful on all but one of 16 penalty kills to improve to an IHL second-best 84.1% penalty kill rating.

Stingy Komet D: The Komet defense has allowed a league-low 35 goals or 2.50 goals against per game average and the fewest shots on goal at 408 or 29.1 per game. The Komets have the highest shots on goal average per game at 36.1 with 505 shots in 14 games.
