Komets week in review
Komets take split of home-and-home series with Bloomington
Fury visits Saturday

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets took a split of a home-and-home series with Bloomington for week 2 of the 2007-08 IHL campaign and improved to 2-1-0-0 on the young season for a league-leading .667 winning percentage.    -IHL Standings-

Friday night the Komets dropped their first road game of the season 4-2 at Bloomington. Wingers Jason Sessa and Evgeny Saidachev each tallied for the Komets while netminder Kevin Reiter stopped 17 of 20 shots.

Saturday the series switched to Fort Wayne where the Komets upended the PrairieThunder 3-1 for the 2nd straight Komet home win of the season. Komet goals were scored by defenseman Guy Dupuis, center Mathieu Curadeau and winger Mitch Woods. It was Woods' first career goal after making his pro debut Friday night at Bloomington. Reiter earned his 2nd win of the season making 25 saves on 26 shots in his 3rd consecutive start.

Komets skate 3 in 3 this weekend....this weekend the Komets will skate 3 games in 3 nights starting Friday at Port Huron at 7:30pm. The new IceHawks enter week 3 leading the IHL with 3 wins and 6 points after 5 games.

Saturday the Komets return home to host the Muskegon Fury at 7:30pm in the first of 15 meetings this season and the first of 7 in Fort Wayne. Last season the Komets were 5-2-0 in 7 total meetings with the Fury. Muskegon is off to a 1-2-0-0 start this year. The Fury's only win of the season was on the road last Saturday in Kalamazoo.

Sunday the Komets travel to Kalamazoo for a 4pm matinee. It's the first of 7 trips to Kalamazoo for the Komets and the first of 15 meetings this season. The Komets were 6-2-2 last year vs. the Wings.

Leading Komets.....after 2 weeks of play defenseman Guy Dupuis continues to lead the Komets and IHL defensemen with 4 assists and 5 points. Kevin Reiter tops league netminders with a 1.34 goals-against-average and .947 save percentage. Rookie Mathieu Curadeau leads the Komets with 2 goals and +4 and is riding a 3-game point streak (2g, 1a).   -Komet teamstats-  

Stingy Komet defense.....the Komets defense has surrendered only 5 goals for a league-low average of 1.67 goals per game after 3 games and have allowed an IHL low average of 25.7 shots per game (77 shots against).

Shooting the puck.....the Komets have out-shot opponents in each of the 3 games played, 119 to 77, and lead the IHL in average shots per game at 39.7.

Komet Hockey on the air.....most Komet games will be broadcast on WOWO Radio AM 1190 this year with Bob Chase at the Fort Wayne microphone for his 55th consecutive season. Some games will be aired on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380 as an alternative when conflicts occur. All games aired on radio will also be available free on the internet at Comcast KometCast at www.komets.com.
