KOMETS SNAG VETERAN WINGER JASON SESSA
Single game tickets go on sale Sep. 21

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced Monday that Jason Sessa has been added to the preseason roster. Sessa, 30, will be entering his 10th pro year after serving an ironman 64 games last season with Memphis in the Central Hockey League.

Sessa (SESS-uh) was selected by Toronto in the 4th round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. He played 3 seasons at Lake Superior State University in the NCAA from 1995-1998. The winger was selected Second Team All-CCHL after the 1996-97 season.

Sessa has skated stints in the AHL, UHL, ECHL as well as the CHL. He was was a member of the 2001 ECHL Kelly Cup Champion South Carolina Stingrays and named an ECHL 2001 All-Star. Sessa Led Dayton in the 2002 ECHL playoffs with 7 goals and 3 power play tallies. The veteran skater registered a career high 35 goals and 66 points during 2003-04 with Quad City in the UHL.

Last season Sessa led the River Kings with 30 goals and 14 power play mark while posting a team-high .600 average in shootouts (6/10). Sessa skated all 18 playoff games scoring 6 goals and 8 points appearing in 3 playoff rounds with Memphis.

In addition to Sessa, the Komets also announced that rookie netminder Shawn Monette (moe-NET) has been added to the preseason roster becoming the 3rd goaltender for the Komet camp. Monette, 20, completed 3 seasons in juniors appearing in 49 games last year with the Dauphin Kings MJHL posting a 2.92 goals-against average and 32-13-2 record.

The addition of Sessa and Monette brings the Komet roster to 21 players including 13 forwards, 5 defenseman and 3 goaltenders.

The Komet's 2007 training camp begins Monday, Oct. 8 with the annual noon press luncheon at the Coliseum. More details will be forthcoming.

The Komet's 2007-08 IHL campaign begins at home Saturday, Oct. 20 against the Port Huron IceHawks at 7:30pm. The Komets will host 2 preseason tilts including Wednesday, Oct. 10 against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:30pm and Saturday, Oct. 13 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm.
