KOMETS RE-SIGN MARCHANT
NETMINDER DEGAGNE, ROOKIE GEORGE ADDED TO LINEUP
PRESEASON ROSTER REACHES 15

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets announced Wednesday that center Terry Marchant has re-signed for the upcoming campaign. Goaltender Shawn Degagne has agreed to terms and rookie winger Michael George has been added to the preseason roster.

Marchant (marr-SHAHN), 31, will be entering his 10th pro year since being selected by Edmonton in round 6 of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. The veteran skater started his career with Hamilton AHL in 1998 after completing 4 seasons with Lake Superior State University NCAA. Prior to last season Marchant posted a career high 31 goals, 54 assists and 85 points in 76 games with Flint in the UHL. The Buffalo, New York native started 2006-07 appearing in 3 games with New Mexico CHL before returning to Flint where he skated 48 games. Marchant was acquired by Fort Wayne in a trade for Bodgan Rudenko and Ryan Jorde March 1 and posted 7 goals and 15 points in the final 17 games of the 2006-07 season. Marchant appeared in all 10 Komet post-season games registering 4 goals and 9 points.

Degagne (da-GAHN-yay), 28, will be starting his 9th pro season after appearing in 4 games last year with Elmira UHL (2-2-0, 3.25 gaa). The netminder was selected by the New York Rangers in the 6th round of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft before making his pro debut with Pensacola ECHL in 2001. Prior to his UHL stint with Elmira last season, the North Bay, Ontario native backstopped Amarillo CHL for 4 seasons from 2002-2006 (173gp, 97-55-12, 2.69 gaa, 10 shutouts).

George, 22, skated 3 seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Battleford North Stars from 2003-2006. He topped Battleford in 2004-05 with 22 goals, 46 assists and 68 points. George repeated as team leader in 2005-06 with 35 goals, 39 assists and 74 points and led the North Stars to the 2006 Itech conference title. George was named a SJHL First Team All-Star for 2004-05 and 2005-06. Last year the Battleford, Saskatchewan native appeared in 9 games with Trois LNAH.

The addition of Marchant, Degagne and George expands the Komet's preseason roster to 15 signees including 10 forwards, 3 defensemen and 2 goalies.

The Komet's 2007-08 IHL campaign begins at home Saturday, Oct. 20 against the Port Huron IceHawks at 7:30pm. The Komets will host 2 pre-season tilts including Wednesday, Oct. 10 against the Bloomington PrairieThunder at 7:30pm and Saturday, Oct. 13 against the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30pm.
