Hansen, 29, will be entering his 7th season as a pro. The 2006 UHL All-Star appeared in 2 seasons with the Motor City Mechanics prior to last year's stint with Fort Wayne. Hansen skated 61 games with the Komets during 2006-07 scoring 10 assists and 11 points while accumulating 146 penalty minutes. The defenseman served in all 10 Komet playoff games last season registering 3 goals, 4 points and 28 penalty minutes.

"Kevin is a gritty, hard nosed defenseman and we are very happy to have him back as one of our veteran players," said Komet general manager David Franke. "Kevin showed in the playoffs that he is capable of putting points on the scoreboard and we hope to exploit his offense more than we did last season."

The addition of Hansen brings the Komet roster to 7 players including 4 forwards and 3 defenseman. Besides Hansen, the Komet roster includes Guy Dupuis and Kevin Bertram on defense. Forwards include Colin Chaulk (C), David Hukalo (RW), Bobby Kukulka (RW) and Travis Granbois (C).
