The 56th season of Komet hockey begins at home on Saturday, Oct. 20 against the Port Huron IceHawks at 7:30pm. Komet home games will follow the same start time format as last year with Friday games beginning at 8pm, Sunday faceoffs at 5pm, and Monday thru Thursday and Saturday games getting underway at 7:30pm. The season will conclude on Saturday, April 12 at Flint. The Komet's final home game of the regular season will be Friday, April 11 vs. Flint.

The Komets will skate 16 total times against Bloomington and Muskegon, 15 times against Flint and Port Huron, and will battle Kalamazoo 14 games. Bloomington, Flint and Muskegon each will visit Fort Wayne 8 times while Kalamazoo and Port Huron will each travel to Fort Wayne for 7 games. Weekend dates break down with 12 Fridays, 12 Saturdays and 4 Sundays. The Komets will continue the tradition of home games on Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve.

"We are very please with our schedule again this year," Komet president Michael Franke said. "32 of our 38 home games are on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holiday dates. We will be playing all teams in the IHL a similar amount of times which allowed us to reach our goal of scheduling parity." There is still a chance that a couple of dates may change depending on availability of more attractive dates at the coliseum becoming available in the next couple weeks.

The Komet's will be busiest in December and March with 14 games each month. March holds the most home games in a month for the Komets with 8. The Komets will skate 3 games in 3 nights 13 times and 4 games in 5 nights 4 times.

The Komets will tune-up with 3 exhibition games on tap, including 2 at home. The pre-season tilts begin at home against Bloomington Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7:30pm. The Komets travel to Kalamazoo to face the Wings in exhibition Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:30pm. The Komets and Wings head back to Fort Wayne for the final exhibition game Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:30pm on coliseum ice.
