Komets extinguish Fury, move on to Turner Cup Finals

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets brushed back the Fury at Muskegon Saturday night 5-1, taking the series 4 games to 2 to advance to the IHL Turner Cup Finals.

True to regular season form, Fort Wayne goaltenders Nick Boucher and Kevin Reiter shared the netminding duties for the Komets during the first-round series.  Boucher enters the finals leading IHL goaltenders in the post-season with a 2.02 goals-against average and .902 save percentage after appearing in two games.  Reiter follows with a 2.36 goals-against average in four games played.

Winger Luciano Aquino led the Komets in the first round with five goals and 7 points.  Aquino enters the finals with an IHL high four-game goal-scoring streak (5 goals).  Winger David Hukalo is riding a five-game point-scoring streak of six points.

The Komets will face the Port Huron Icehawks for the IHL Turner Cup Championship.  The Hawks earned the right to play the Komets in the finals after eliminating the Generals in the first round.  After splitting the first two games with Flint in the series, Port Huron won three straight games to take the series 4 games to 1.

The best-of-seven finals will begin Friday, May 2 at 8pm in Fort Wayne with the complete series schedule expected to be released Monday.
