Komets week in review
Komets set franchise record 113 points, extend win streak to eight games
Muskegon visits Wednesday, Generals invade Sunday for season finale

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets swept all three road games played last week to set a new Fort Wayne franchise record of 113 points in a season while tying the team record of 53 wins with four games remaining going into the final week of 2007-08. Four teams previously held the Fort Wayne record of 112 points. Also, the Komets are one win shy of the franchise record of 32 home wins and can break that record with two home games remaining this week.  -IHL Standings-

Friday the Komets stopped the PrairieThunder at Bloomington 5-3. It was the final meeting of the season with the Komets taking the series 11-4-1.

Saturday the Komets iced the Fury at Muskegon 2-0. Goaltender Kevin Reiter posted the shutout to tie Kevin St. Pierre's Fort Wayne record of eight shutouts in a season.

Sunday the Komets winning streak grew to eight games with a 3-2 shootout win at Port Huron. The Komets took the season series 12-2-1 with their 10th straight win over the Icehawks.

The Komets will complete the season this week with four games on tap. Wednesday, the Muskegon Fury visit for a 7:30pm faceoff. The Fury are battling for playoff position and are currently in fourth place with 73 points, one point ahead of the Kalamazoo Wings. The Komets have won the last four meetings with Muskegon. The Fury have lost their last three games played after dropping a 4-1 decision at Flint Sunday.

The Komets will tangle with the Flint Generals three straight games to finish the season this weekend. The mini-series starts with two 7:30pm faceoffs at Flint Friday and Saturday. Sunday the two teams return to Fort Wayne for the Komet's season home finale at 5pm. The Komets have won their last five straight games against the Generals and lead the series 9-2-1. Flint currently resides in third place with 77 points, four points ahead of fourth-place Muskegon. The Generals skate at Kalamazoo Wednesday before facing the Komets this weekend.

All four Komet games this week are slated to air on Fort Wayne radio. Wednesday's home game with Muskegon is slated to air on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380. Games Friday, Saturday and Sunday will air on WOWO AM 1190 with Bob Chase calling the action radio-rinkside. Komets open Round One of the Turner Cup Playoffs Friday April 18th at 8pm.....The IHL regular season champion Komets will face the fourth-place team, determined by points at the conclusion of the regular season, in the first round of the Turner Cup Playoffs starting Friday, April 18 at 8pm. The Komet's second home game of the first round is scheduled for Sunday, April 20 at 6pm. Sunday playoff games in Fort Wayne will start at 6pm instead of the regular season Sunday start time of 5pm.

Komet Streaks: 24 straight home wins, 8-game winning streak, 12-game road unbeaten streak (10-0-1-1), 21-game unbeaten streak (19-0-1-1).....Colin Chaulk (C) has a 5-game point streak (1 goal, 4 assists).....P.C. Drouin (LW) has a 7-game point and assist streak (2 goals, 9 assists).....goaltender Kevin Reiter has a nine-game winning streak and is unbeaten in ten straight appearances.....netminder Nick Boucher has a 4-game winning streak, has not lost a game he has started in 22 straight games and is unbeaten in regulation 16 straight (14-0-1-1).

Aquino sets IHL season-high streak.....Luciano Aquino (RW) set an IHL season-high point scoring streak of 16 games (13 goals, 14 assists) before having it snapped Sunday at Port Huron.

Sims hits 400.....Al Sims coached his 400th Fort Wayne career game Saturday night at Muskegon and celebrated with a 2-0 win. Sims is coaching his fifth year with Fort Wayne after previously coaching the Komets from 1989-90 thru 1992-93.

Career highs reached: Kevin Bertram 263 penalty minutes.....David Hukalo 23 assists, 42 points and 19 goals.....Kevin Reiter 30 wins.....Nick Boucher 23 wins.....Matt Reynolds 18 goals, 29 assists, 47 points.....Kevin Hansen 153 penalty minutes.

Career highs within reach: Colin Chaulk 26 goals, has 23.....P.C. Drouin 24 goals, has 23.....Guy Dupuis 15 goals, has 11.....Sergei Durdin 8 goals, has 7.

IHL honors....the Komets claimed four IHL end-of season awards for 2007-08. The IHL announced Wednesday that Guy Dupuis was named IHL Defenseman of the Year and the IHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player. Winger David Hukalo was named the IHL Outstanding Defensive Forward and Komet President Michael Franke was handed the IHL Executive of the Year award.

Big Bus Stuff.....the Komets are once again partnering with Citilink, the City of Fort Wayne and Curves for Women to host the annual Big Bus Stuff to benefit the Community Harvest Food Bank this year. Fans will be able to make food donations at both remaining Komet home games this week. Fans are asked to bring canned and packaged food for a $2.00 discount on tickets purchased for Komet home games this Wednesday and Sunday.
