Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets won
both home games during week 24 of 2007-08 to set a new IHL record of 24
consecutive home wins, eclipsing the old record of 22 established by the
Muskegon Mohawks during the 1965-66 IHL season. The Komets improved to 50-12-5-2
for 107 points with two weeks and seven games remaining in the regular season
slate.

Friday night the Komets clipped the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 4-3 in front of a
Fort Wayne crowd of 9,212 to break the old IHL record of consecutive home wins
with their 23rd straight victory on Coliseum ice. Saturday night 8,354 fans
watched the Komets stopped the Muskegon Fury 6-4 to push their record to 24
straight home wins. Luciano Aquino (RW) registered his second hat trick of the
season. P.C. Drouin (LW) scored a goal and added an assist for a two-point
evening. Goalie Nick Boucher earned his career high 21st win of the season on 20
saves and extended his unbeaten streak to 14 games (12-0-1-1).
Saturday the Komets reached the 50-win plateau for the second consecutive season
and fourth in the last five campaigns. Fort Wayne has hit the 50-win mark eight
times in it's 56-year history. Winger David Hukalo registered a pair of goals
including the game winner. Konstantin Shafranov (LW), Colin Chaulk (C), Evgeny
Saidachev (RW) and Mathieu Curadeau also scored for the Komets. Kevin Reiter
backstopped his eighth straight win for a career high 29 wins on the season.
The Komets skate on the road this weekend with three games in
three nights starting Friday at Bloomington for an 8pm faceoff. It will be the
final meeting of the season with the Thunder. The Komets lead the series 10-4-1.
Bloomington skates at Port Huron Wednesday before hosting the Komets Friday and
is fighting to get out of the IHL cellar. The Thunder are eight points out of
playoff position with six games remaining.
Saturday the Komets visit Muskegon at 7:30pm. It's the 13th of 15 meetings
this season with the Komets holding a 7-3-1-1 edge over the Fury. The Komets
have won the last two matches at Muskegon and are even at 3-3-0-1 at Walker
Arena so far this season. Muskegon currently holds fourth place in the tight
race for IHL playoff position and has seven games remaining. The Fury will play
at Flint Wednesday and Port Huron Friday before welcoming the Komets Saturday.
The Komets complete the weekend with a 3pm Sunday matinee at Port Huron where
the Komets are 6-1-0 this season. It's the final meeting of the regular season
with the Komets leading the series 11-2-1 after winning the last nine straight
games against the Icehawks. Port Huron is 6-2-1-1 in it's last 10 games and
holds second place in the IHL with 77 points, four ahead of third-place Flint.
The Icehawks host Bloomington Wednesday and Muskegon Friday. Port Huron will
travel to Kalamazoo Saturday before hosting the Komets Sunday afternoon.
Two home games remain on the 2007-08 regular season slate. The Komets' next
home game is Wednesday, April 9th against the Muskegon Fury at 7:30pm. The
Komets will end their home schedule Sunday, April 13 when the Flint Generals
visit for a 5pm faceoff.

by points at the conclusion of the regular season, in the first round of the
Turner Cup Playoffs starting Friday, April 18 at 8pm. The Komet's second home
game of the first round is scheduled for Sunday, April 20 at 6pm. Sunday playoff
games in Fort Wayne will start at 6pm instead of the regular season Sunday start
time of 5pm.
