Komets week in review
Komets match IHL mark of 22 straight home wins
Can break 42-year-old league record Friday vs. Kalamazoo

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets earned seven out of eight points in four games played last week, eclipsing the 100-point mark for the second consecutive season. The Komets improved to 48-12-5-2 for 103 points after 67 games. Nine games remain in 2007-08 giving the Komets a chance to shatter their franchise record of 112 points in a season, set four times previously.  -IHL Standings-

The Komets started last week's action with a 5-4 shootout loss at Kalamazoo Monday. Wednesday the Komets stopped the visiting Flint Generals 5-3 in Flint's second of three straight visits to Fort Wayne.

Friday night the Komets cooled the Icehawks at Port Huron 3-2, snapping Port Huron's win streak at four games. The Komets also extended their win streak over the Icehawks to nine games.

Saturday the Komets returned home and ambushed the Generals 6-2 to remain unbeaten by Flint at the Memorial Coliseum this season in seven meetings. The victory tied the Komets for the all-time IHL record of 22 consecutive home wins, set in 1965-66 by the Muskegon Mohawks.

Kalamazoo visits Friday, Muskegon here Saturday
The Komets are looking to break the IHL record of 22 straight home wins this Friday night when the Kalamazoo Wings visit for an 8pm faceoff. Kalamazoo is the last team to have beaten the Komets in Fort Wayne, Dec. 21st, 6-4. The Wings are the only team the Komets have not beaten in regulation in the last 14 games after they stopped the Komets in a shootout 5-4 last Monday at Kalamazoo. This Friday night's match will be the 15th and final meeting of the season. The Komets are 6-1-0 on Fort Wayne ice and have dominated the series 11-1-1-1. The Wings are idle this week until their trip to Fort Wayne Friday and are coming off a 4-2 home win against Bloomington last Saturday night after losing two straight games. Kalamazoo is fighting for a playoff spot, trailing fourth-place Flint by a point going into the final three weeks of play.

Saturday the Komets complete their home weekend doubleheader against the Muskegon Fury. The last time the Komets and Fury met was March 7th, a 4-2 Fort Wayne win at Walker Arena. The last time Muskegon visited Fort Wayne was Jan. 18th when the Komets doubled-up the Fury 2-1. Saturday's game will be the 13th of 15 meetings this season. The Komets lead the series 7-3-1-1 and are 4-0-1-0 against the Fury on Coliseum ice. Muskegon is in the race for playoff position with Port Huron, Flint and Kalamazoo. Only five points separate the four teams. The Fury currently hold third place, trailing Port Huron by three points and lead fourth-place Flint by a point. Muskegon finished last week with a 3-2 overtime win at home against Port Huron and will host Bloomington Friday before traveling to Fort Wayne Saturday.
