Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets became the first IHL team to reach the
80-point plateau by completing week 20 of 2007-08 sweeping all three games
played to improve to 39-12-5-1 for 84 points and a 21-point lead over
second-place Port Huron with six weeks and 19 games remaining.
-IHL Standings-
The Komets reached 80 points with a 4-2 home win against Bloomington Friday
in their 55th game of the season. Last season (106 points) it took 61 games for
Fort Wayne to reach 80 points. The Komet's record for most points in a season is
112 set four times (1983-84, 1985-86, 1991-92 and 2003-04). Most recently, in
2003-04, the Komets hit 80 points after 56 games.
Friday's Komet win marked their 16th straight home victory. The Komets have
not lost at home since Dec. 21 vs. Kalamazoo.
The PrairieThunder became the first team to complete their schedule of visits
to Fort Wayne. The Komets took the series of eight games in Fort Wayne 7-1-0.
Saturday the Komets turned back the Thunder in Bloomington 3-1. The Komets
will face the Thunder once more when they travel to Bloomington April 4.
Sunday the Komets finished the weekend with a 5-2 win at Flint and evened the
season series on Perani Arena ice at 2-2-1. The Komets have seven more meetings
slated against the Generals.
Komets to skate four games in five nights this week
Feb. 6 game to be made up this Wednesday at 7:30pm.....The Flint
Generals will visit Wednesday this week to make up the game missed on Feb. 6 due
to inclement weather preventing the Generals from traveling to Fort Wayne.
Tickets for the postponed Feb. 6 Komet game, Komet home game ticket #24 (IHL
game #134), will be honored for this Wednesday's game. In addition, Wednesday's
game has been designated to be another season ticket holder "Season Ticket
Exchange Night". Unused season tickets for previously scheduled Fort Wayne home
games can be exchanged for tickets to this Wednesday's Komet home game against
Flint.
Wednesday's game will be the fourth of eight Flint visits with the Komets
holding a 3-0-0 edge in Fort Wayne and leading the season series 5-2-1. The
Generals slipped into third place last week and begin the week one point behind
second-place Port Huron. Flint is riding a three-game losing streak.
The Komets will travel to Muskegon Friday for a 7:30pm faceoff at
Walker Arena. The Komets dropped the Fury 3-2 at Muskegon Feb. 22 in the last
meeting to push their season series to a 6-3-1-1 lead. The Fury are coming off a
3-2 overtime win against Port Huron Sunday and will skate at Bloomington
Wednesday before hosting the Komets Friday.
Saturday the Komets return to Fort Wayne to begin a home-and-home
series with the IceHawks at 7:30pm on Coliseum ice. The IceHawks are idle this
week until Saturday's game in Fort Wayne. The mini series switches to McMorran
Arena in Port Huron Sunday at 3pm. Port Huron moved into second place after week
20, only one point ahead of third-place Flint.
Saturday is U.S. Army Night as the Komets will wear special U.S. Army
jerseys to be auctioned at the game. Saturday is also the final Scout Night of
the season with a large number of various scouts attending the game.

Komet home game is slated to air on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380. Games Friday,

Shooting Komets: The Komets have outshot opponents in 16 straight
games. Fort Wayne had outshot opponents by at least 10 shots in 11 consecutive
games before being held to only 27 shots against the General's 23 at Flint
Sunday. The Komets are averaging a league-high 34.3 shots per game and allowing
an IHL low 26.4 shots per game.
Streaking Komets: Three players had points in each Komet game played
last week. Colin chaulk (C) extended his point-scoring streak to six games (3g,
3a), P.C. Drouin (LW) has a four-game point streak (5g, 5a) and Mitch Woods (RW)
developed a three-game point streak dishing four helpers. Goaltender Nick
Boucher is unbeaten in regulation in 14 straight games he has started

unbeaten streak (4-0-1-0). Fort Wayne's record for consecutive home wins is 18
set in 1963-64.
