Fort Wayne, IN --- The IHL leading Komets gained five points in three
games played during week 19 of 2007-08 and improved to 36-12-5-1 for 78 points
and an 18-point lead over second-place Flint. Six weeks and 22 games remain for
the Komets, 11 each at home and on the road.
-IHL Standings-
The Komets skated three road games in three nights over the weekend starting
with a 3-2 win at Muskegon Friday. Saturday the Komets stumbled 5-4 in overtime
at Bloomington, snapping a PrairieThunder two-game losing streak. Sunday the
Komets finished the week with a 4-2 win at Kalamazoo for their sixth straight
win over the Wings and an unbeaten streak (in regulation) of three games.
This week the Komets return to home ice and put their 15-game home winning
streak on the line when they host Bloomington Friday night at 8:00 to begin a
home-and-home series against the Thunder. While the Komets are 2-3-1 at
Bloomington, they are 6-1-0 against the Thunder in Fort Wayne. Friday's tilt
will be Bloomington's eighth and final visit of the season. The PrairieThunder
will host Muskegon Wednesday before busing to Fort Wayne Friday.
Saturday the Komets complete the home-and-home series with an 8pm faceoff at
the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. It will be the seventh of eight games
this season at Bloomington. The Komets lead the overall series 8-4-1.
Sunday the Komets complete the three-game weekend with a 4pm matinee at
Perani Arena in Flint. The Komets lead the series 4-2-1 and are 1-2-1 on Flint
ice. The Generals will host Kalamazoo Friday and skate at Kalamazoo Saturday
before returning home to face the Komets Sunday.

Friday night is Marathon Night.....it's another Marathon night at
Komet hockey this Friday when the Komets host Bloomington at 8pm. Fans can take
advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free ticket offer with three fill ups at

Marathon stations.
Komet's Feb. 6 game against Flint rescheduled for March 5.....hazardous
road conditions and inclement Michigan weather prevented the Generals from
traveling to Fort Wayne Feb. 6. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday,
March 5 at 7:30pm at Memorial Coliseum. Tickets for the Feb. 6 Komet game, Komet
home game ticket #24 (IHL game #134), will be honored for the March 5 game. In
addition, the March 5 game has been designated to be another season ticket
holder "Season Ticket Exchange Night". Unused season tickets for previously
scheduled home games can be exchanged for tickets to the March 5 game.

Special K's: The Komet's have moved to the top of the special team
ranks after scoring 4/17 on the power play and 18/20 on the penalty kill for the
week. Fort Wayne leads on the overall power play with 61 power play goals on 309
chances (19.7%) and has allowed 50 power play goals against after 338 times
short-handed. (85.2%).
Shooting Komets: The Komets outshot their opponents 114-79 in the
three games played last week. Fort Wayne leads the IHL with an average 34.2
shots per game and has allowed a league-lowest 26.8 shots per game.
Chauk reaches 400: Center Colin Chaulk dished his 400th Fort Wayne
career point with an assist on the Komet's first goal of a 3-2 win at Muskegon
Friday night.
Komets trivia: The Komets are 0-5 in overtime this year after a 5-4
overtime loss Friday night at Bloomington. The Komets have not scored an
overtime goal in a regular season game since April 9, 1993 when they defeated
the Indianapolis Ice 4-3. Komet skater Igor Chibirev scored the goal in front of
a sold-out Fort Wayne crowd of 8,103.
Eye-ing the Cup: The Komets have an 18-point spread in the race for
the IHL's Huber Trophy. Fort Wayne has won the IHL's regular season crown seven
times, but have yet to win the Huber Trophy under the Franke Family ownership.
The Komets won three UHL regular season titles including last year's Tarry Cup.
