Komets week in review
Komets finish week 15 on top with 27 wins and 58 points
Generals invade Friday at 8pm

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets suffered losses in both games played during week 15 of 2007-08 and completed a week empty handed for the first time this season. Friday night's 5-1 setback at Flint snapped Fort Wayne's winning streak at six. Saturday's 5-4 loss in Muskegon gave the Komets their second straight loss for only the second time this season.

The Komets finished the week on top of the IHL with a 27-11-3-1 record for 58 points and a six-point margin over second-place Flint (21-9-3-7).  -IHL Standings-

Komets skate three games this week
Wednesday the Komets travel to Bloomington for an 8:05pm (Fort Wayne time) faceoff against the PrairieThunder. It will be the ninth of 16 meetings this season with the Komets holding a 5-3-0-0 series lead but are 1-2-0-0 at Bloomington. The Thunder are riding a 3-game losing streak after suffering a 6-2 home loss to Port Huron Sunday. Goaltender Loic Lacasse has appeared in the last 13 straight games for Bloomington. Veteran winger Don Parsons leads the Thunder with 23 assists and 40 points.

Friday at 8pm the Komets return to Fort Wayne for the first home game in two weeks. The Flint Generals visit for a chance to gain ground on the first-place Komets. Flint is idle this week until their trip to Fort Wayne Friday. The Generals are winless in their last two outings after getting clipped by the Wings at Kalamazoo Sunday 6-5 in a shootout. The Komets lead the season series 3-2-0-0 and are 2-0-0-0 on home ice after two Fort Wayne meetings.

The Komets finish the week at Kalamazoo Saturday at 7:30pm. It's the 10th of 15 meetings this season and the Komets hold a 7-1-1-0 series lead. The Wings enter the week's action with a two-game win string after edging the Generals at Flint 6-5 in a shootout Sunday. Center Kory Karlander leads the IHL with 33 assists and 57 points and is riding a current IHL-high six-game point scoring streak (10 points). Kalamazoo plays host to Muskegon Wednesday and will skate at Port Huron Friday before hosting the Komets Saturday.

All three Komet games this week will be aired on Fort Wayne radio with Bob Chase calling the action radio-rinkside at komets.com Comcast KometCast. Wednesday's game will be broadcast on WKJG/ESPN Radio AM 1380. Friday and Saturday's games are slated to air on WOWO Radio AM 1190.

Streaking Komets.....Goaltender Kevin Reiter has appeared in 17 straight games, started 16 straight games, has nine consecutive home wins.....P.C. Drouin (LW) has an IHL current high five-game point and assist scoring streak (1 goal, 6 assists).

Aquino hits 100.....Luciano Aquino (RW) skated his 100th pro game Saturday, Jan. 26 at Muskegon.

Curadeau shuffles off to Worcester.....rookie center Mathieu Curadeau appeared in one game with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League last week. Curadeau had two shots and registered a -1 in the Shark's 2-0 loss at Manchester Wednesday night, Jan. 23. Curadeau remained with Worcester through the weekend and saw no further action. Curadeau is expected to be back with the Komets in time for Wednesday's game at Bloomington.

Comcast Komet Hockey Report Card Night Feb. 8.....students with an "A" or "A Equivalent" will be admitted FREE for the Komet's game against Port Huron Friday, Feb. 8 at 8pm. Students can get a free ticket by taking their report card (or a letter from their teacher or school showing their "A" or "A Equivalent") to the Coliseum Ticket Office.
