--- The IHL announced Monday
that Kevin Reiter has been named the Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the
Week and winger P.C. Drouin has been named National City Forward of the Week for
the period ending Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008.
Reiter,
26, receives the award for the third consecutive week and fourth overall this
season. During the week he was undefeated in three games and extended his
winning streak to six games. Reiter began the week with a 4-2 win over the
visiting Flint Generals Wednesday night making 32 saves on 34 shots. Friday the
netminder stopped the Muskegon Fury 2-1 making 27 saves on Fort Wayne ice.
Saturday Reiter earned his sixth straight win and fifth shutout of the season
2-0 at Flint on 36 saves in his 15th consecutive appearance and 14th straight
start. Reiter scored a 1.00 goals-against average and .982 save percentage for
the week making 95 saves on 98 shots in the three games played. The Pittsburgh
native leads IHL goaltenders with 18 wins, 2.29 goals-against average and .915
save percentage in 30 appearances and needs only one win to tie his career best
mark of 19 wins set during 2004-05 with Missouri of the UHL.
Drouin,
33, scored a goal and added three assists for four-points in the three games
played last week for his first weekly award of the season. The left winger
scored his goal on a penalty shot in Friday night's 2-1 Komet home win against
Muskegon. It was the first penalty shot goal on Fort Wayne ice in six years and
the first by a Komet since Matt Hunter scored against Ryan McIntosh at Elmira
Dec. 7, 2005 in a 5-2 win. The St. Lambert, Quebec native also posted an assist
in each game for a three-game point and assist streak. Two of Drouin's three
assists were helpers on game winning goals.
The IHL also announced that Muskegon's Russ Moyer was named the Pepsi
Defenseman of the Week and Port Huron right winger Josh Aspenlind was named the
Aquafina Rookie of the Week.
The Komets are on the road this week at Flint Friday and Muskegon Saturday.
Both games faceoff at 7:30pm and can be heard free worldwide on the internet at
www.komets.com at Comcast KometCast. Around the Fort Wayne area the games can be
heard on WOWO Radio AM 1190 with Bob Chase calling the action radio-rinkside.
