Komets week in review
Komets complete holiday stretch with 5-point IHL lead
Home unbeaten streak reaches 6
Fury visit Friday, IceHawks here Sunday

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets completed a very busy holiday stretch of 8 games in 10 nights taking 6 wins and 12 points building a 5-point cushion over second-place Flint after 12 weeks of the 2007-08 IHL campaign.   -IHL Standings-

During the past week the Komets won 4 of 5 games in 7 nights and improved to 21-8-3-1 after 33 games for 46 points and a league-high winning percentage of .697.

The Komets started the past week by saying goodbye to 2007 with a 4-1 home win New Year's Eve over Bloomington. It was Fort Wayne's 51st home New Year's Eve game (34-13-1-3). The win gave the Komets the distinction of becoming the first IHL team this season to reach 40 points.

Wednesday, Jan. 2 the Komets stopped the visiting Muskegon Fury 4-1. Winger Matt Reynolds netted his first hat trick of the season and added an assist for a 4-point evening.

Friday the Komets suffered a 4-1 setback at Muskegon snapping a 3-game win streak. Saturday the Komets returned home to win both games of a weekend home double-header against Kalamazoo. Saturday the Komets captured a 5-2 win and Sunday Fort Wayne doubled-up the Wings 4-2. Sunday's win marked the Komet's sixth straight home win for an IHL-best home record of 13-3-2-0.

Komets play 4 this week, Muskegon visits Friday, Port Huron here Sunday
The Komets will skate 4 games in 5 nights this week beginning at Bloomington Wednesday at 8:05pm (Fort Wayne time). It's the 8th of 16 meetings this season with the Komets leading the series 5-2-0-0.

Friday the Komets return home to host Muskegon at 8pm for the 8th meeting of the season. The Komets are 3-2-1-1 in 7 previous meetings.

Saturday the Komets are on the road at Kalamazoo for a 7:30pm faceoff at Wings Stadium. The Komets lead the series 6-1-1-0 after 8 of 15 meetings.

Sunday the Komets are back home to host the Port Huron IceHawks at 5pm. The Hawks have the most road wins in the IHL with a 12-7-0-0 record when away. Sunday's match will be the 9th of 15 meetings this season as the Komets currently lead the series 5-2-1-0.

Streaking Komets.....Komets riding an IHL season high 6-game home winning streak; Guy Dupuis (D) has a 7-game point streak (2 goals, 5 assists); P.C. Drouin (LW) has a 6-game point and assist scoring streak (1 goal, 10 assists); Goaltender Kevin Reiter has started 7 straight games (5-2-0-0); Goalie Nick Boucher, currently on I.R., will risk a 6-game winning streak when he returns to action.

Special K's: The Komet's were successful on 28 of 31 penalty kills (90.3%) in 5 games played last week and scored 6 power play goals on 29 chances (20.7%). The stingy Komet defense has an IHL best goals-against average of 2.73 per game. In addition, the Komet "D" has allowed a league-lowest average of 27.8 shots per game.
