Fort Wayne, IN --- The IHL
announced Wednesday that Komets Guy Dupuis, Luciano Aquino and Nick Boucher were
all honored with monthly league awards for their play in December, 2007.
Dupuis
was named Pepsi IHL Defenseman of the Month. The Moncton, new Brunswick native
posted the best plus-minus for the Komets during the month with a +12
registering at an even mark or better in 12 of 13 games played. Dupuis led the
Komet defensive corp with 5 goals, 8 assists and 13 points during December
posting points in all but 3 games skated. Dupuis finished December on a 3-game
point-scoring streak (1g, 2a) and leads all IHL defensemen with 101 shots.
Dupuis' previous honors this year include IHL Defenseman of the Month for
October and Defensemen of the Week twice for weeks ending Dec. 9 and Dec. 23.
Aquino
was named Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Month. The right winger scored points in 10
of 14 games and registered 6 multiple-point games. He led the Komets with 20
points for the month of December and leads IHL rookies with 20 assists, 5 power
play tallies and 37 points. The Mississauga, Ontario native ranks second in the
IHL in points, only a point behind December's Forward of the Month Kory
Karlander (Kalamazoo). It's the second consecutive Rookie of the Month honor for
Aquino. He also has been named Rookie of the Week 3 times so far this season.
Boucher
was named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
The Cobble Hill, British Columbia native completed December riding a 6-game
winning streak. In 7 games the 5th-year netminder posted a 6-1-0 record making
175 saves on 192 shots for a 2.49 goals-against average and .911 save
percentage. Boucher currently leads IHL goalies with an overall 2.27
goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 11 games played. In addition
to also taking the Goaltender of the Month honors for November, Boucher was
named Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Dec. 13.
Komets welcome 2008 with 4 in 5.....the
Komets usher in 2008 with a very busy week this week. Four games in five nights
are ahead including tonight's home stand against the Muskegon Fury at 7:30pm.
Friday the Komets travel to Muskegon for a 7:30pm faceoff. The Komets return to
Fort Wayne for back-to-back home games against the Kalamazoo Wings Saturday at
7:30pm and again Sunday at 5pm. Plenty of good seats remain on sale for all
upcoming Komet home games at the Coliseum ticket office and online at
Ticketmaster.com.
