Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets announced Saturday that the Bridgeport Sound Tigers have assigned goaltender Kenny Reiter to Fort Wayne.
Reiter served as backup goaltender in both of Bridgeport’s AHL preseason games. Reiter appeared in one game last season with Bridgeport after joining the team on an amateur tryout contract. Reiter, 25, completed three seasons of WCHA play at the University of Minnesota-Duluth last year. His three-year stint at the University included an NCAA Championship in 2011. Reiter is the brother of former Komet netminder Kevin Reiter and is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Komets also announced Saturday that Brent Henley (D), Daniel Maggio (D), J.M. Rizk (F), Brandon Marino (F) and goaltender Charlie Effinger have joined Komets’ training camp after competing in AHL training camps.
The Komets training camp roster stands at 36 players going into tonight’s exhibition game against the visiting Evansville IceMen at 7:30 at the Memorial Coliseum. The Komets will again host the IceMen in the second and final preseason tune-up tomorrow (Sunday) at 5pm.
Home opener Friday, Oct. 12 vs the Wings-- The Komets will rekindle their old rivalry against the Kalamazoo Wings when the season opens on Coliseum Ice Friday, Oct. 12 at 8pm. Many events, including the parading of the Presidents' Championship Cup one final time around the ice, are planned for opening night. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the festivities.
