Feb. 9, 1966 - Merv Dubchak nets
50th goal of the season
45 years ago this week the Dow-Jones index hit a record 995 points, Petula Clark
had
the number one song in Amerca with "My Love" and Merv Dubchak
scored his 50th
goal in the 48th game of the 1965-66 season at home against
Muskegon in an 11-4 win.
Dubchak completed the year with an IHL record 72
goals. |

Feb. 18, 1997 - Lee Davidson
appears in IHL All-Star Game at Grand Rapids
14 years ago this week Bill Elliot ran up front most of
the day but it was Jeff Gordon
crossing the finish line first to win the Daytona 500,
the Spice Girls had a number one
hit with "Wannabe" and Lee Davidson was representing the
Komets in the IHL All-Star
Game in front of a sellout crowd of 10,834 at the new Van
Andel Arena in Grand Rapids.
The Western Conference claimed a 6-4 win over the Eastern
Conference. |

Feb. 18, 1957 - Red Wings top IHL All Stars 11-3 at the
Memorial Coliseum
54 years ago this week disc jockeys across the USA were spinning "Young Love" by
Tab Hunter on the radio, Steve Allen was hosting his last year on The Tonight
Show
on NBC TV, and on the night "Wheel of Fortune's" Vanna White was born Gordie
Howe
and the Detroit Red Wings beat the IHL All-Stars including Komets Pierre
Brilliant and
Eddie Long (above) 11-3 in the first All-Star game held in Fort Wayne.

March 1, 1959 - Eddie Longs returns from hospital to
score game winning goal
52 years ago this week Lloyd Price topped the music charts with Stagger Lee,
Gunsmoke was the most watched show on television and Eddie Long was helped
off the ice during a Sunday afternoon home game against Toledo after taking a
slap
shot to the head. After a trip to the hospital and 18 stitches, Long
returned to the game
to score a goal in a 4-1 victory over the Mercurys. |

12-6 loss to Milwaukee

stations all over America, and Ernie Ashley was calling the action on WOWO Radio
AM 1190 as the Komets incredibly scored six goals on eight shots in a Sunday
home
game loss to Milwaukee 12-6 at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort
