Komets
Ride Win Streak to Six Games
Return home to host Evansville Saturday, Dayton
Sunday
Fort Wayne, IN -- The
Komets improved to 11-5-0 and 22 points with a sweep
of a two-game set at Rapid City Friday and Saturday
for week seven of the 2011-12 campaign. Fort Wayne
trails first-place Evansville by a point in the
battle to the top of the Turner Conference entering
the season's eighth week. The Komets extended their
win streak to a CHL season-high six games. The
Komets also pushed their road win streak to a CHL
season-high six games.
The Komets completed their season series against
Rapid City, taking the series 4-1-0.
Komets of the week--
•Nick Boucher (10-3-0) won both games played at
Rapid City for the week to extend his win streak to
five games and remains unbeaten in six road
appearances (6-0). Boucher stopped 54 of 57 shots
for a 1.50 goals-against average
and .947 save percentage for the week and
completes week seven with a CHL-best 2.25
goals-against average after 14 games. Boucher
earned third star mention Friday and second star
Saturday.
•Right wing Bobby Chaumont scored a goal in each
game at Rapid City, including the game winner
Saturday, to extend his goal-scoring streak to a
current CHL-high four games (4 goals).
•Center Colin Chaulk
recorded his second three-point game of the season
Friday at Rapid City scoring the game-winning goal
and adding two assists. Chaulk
was awarded first star for his effort in Friday’s
3-2 win at Rapid City.
•Komet defenseman Brent Henley contributed a goal
and an assist while posting a +2 in the Komets’ 3-1
win at Rapid City Saturday to earn first-star of the
game honors. After 11 games with the Komets,
the defenseman has two goals, five points and a
plus/minus of +11 along with 43 penalty minutes.
Milestones--
•Veteran center Colin Chaulk’s
assist on Chris Auger’s goal Friday at Rapid City

assist (regular season and playoffs).
•Rookie left winger Stephon
Thorne contributed to the Komets' 3-1 win at Rapid
City Saturday with his first career goal, a
short-handed effort, for the first goal of the game.
Taking a shot—The Komets were awarded their
first penalty shot of the season Saturday at Rapid
City at 12:08 of the third period. Skater Artem
Podshendyalov missed his attempt against Rush
goaltender Danny Battochio.
It was Podshendyalov's second career penalty shot.
He was awarded a shot last season against Dayton's
Jeff Jakaitis Jan. 1, 2011 in which Jakaitis made
the save.
